For Enemies (Severus, gen-ish with some smut, hard R)
This was originally written last February/March as a birthday present for
mimimanderly. I got so discouraged by what my betas had said that I wound up not really finishing it and posting it only under a very tight lock that just two people could see. This is still "not really finished" in that there is another scene I think it would benefit from having, but I think at this point that I am probably not ever going to write it, so I've just papered over the join in the hope that it won't be too bumpy of a ride. (Those who have read it, don't feel obliged to do so again; there's no new material here. In fact, I cut about a hundred words off the end, for what I think is a better stopping place.) The whole thing was really only ever intended as a light framing for the sexy image near the end of it anyway.
Title: For Enemies
Pairing/Characters: mostly Severus; long-winded two penn'orth from Lucius; hints of (unrequited) Severus/Lily
Genre: um, PAIGTISP? (Plot? Actually I Guess There Is Some Plot)
Rating: hard R, maybe barely NC-17
Words: ~4300
Summary: Severus experiments with a spell he came across while revising for his O.W.L.s.
Warnings/Contains: Wow, never thought I'd ever do this; now I can see how it might spoil things a little for those who care. So highlight for warnings: Abuse of frogs (animal testing, not sadism), blood, self-inflicted wound (not self-harm in the usual sense), masturbation.
A/N: Did he invent it or did he find it? Canon actually isn't explicit. I like both ideas; this stems from the latter. Betaed by
coyotegoth and by
inamac, who is largely responsible for Lucius's letter as it appears here.
coyotegoth and
inamac. I know it's a terrible Americanism, but it's not Severus thinking this to himself; it's the narrator talking to the reader. And I just really like the way it reads, in terms of the kind of style I have where I toss out bits like this every so often. So here I present the restored director's cut. (back up)
