Nothing wrong with this summary, but:

Severus Snape is dying. He knows it, he accepts it. As he does, a pair of arms welcomes him in his afterlife...

I misread "arms" as "worms."

Er.

(My, what a game of pinochle they could play in that snout...)

Some of this post is pastede on yey from chat log with husband, plus bonus font markup.

For some reason I have got the idea in my head that writing an interactive fiction (aka text adventure) not-quite-perfect-play game transcript as a form of fanfic would be amusing to anyone other than myself (and possibly [livejournal.com profile] bethos, who I beta-tested a Potterverse IF game for a few years ago). I've been chuckling over random lines here and there for the past two hours.

Let's never mind what a long hard slog it would be to write even a transcript, never mind a game. I tried IF authoring once, with Adventure Game Toolkit, which is, um, looked on with some horror and is very much Not Inform and Not TADS. I digress, I'm sure, from the understanding of most people reading this. So anyway, all that is only explanation (well...) for this:

------

this is taking over my brain
WHY IS THIS FORMAT SO FUN

[if player is not holding a wand]
In this universe, wizards usually need wands.

(I'm amused, but not really surprised, that I had an extant tag for "sarcasm" and didn't have to create it to apply it to this post.)

lol. this fic isn't bad, but somehow this summary makes me laugh:
Written for the "SEVERUS, YOU MOVE SO SEDUCTIVELY." Challenge. Severus Snape goes out for the night and ends up bringing someone from his past home with him. SSxSB. One-Shot.
IN FACT, SO SEDUCTIVELY THAT NOTHING BUT ALL CAPITAL LETTERS WILL MAKE MY POINT.

summaries, late-night edition

Disclaimer: Do not take too seriously; I am not necessarily saying the fics in question are bad ones. Sometimes they are horrible, but more often they are merely mediocre, and sometimes quite okay. They just all had something in their summaries that I found goofy, misused, or amusing in some other way.

-----

Sequel to The Great Tragedy of Severus Snape. SLASH Harry and Severus have been married for five years when Severus has an accident

Sounds like it's time for some rubber sheets.

-----

A sequel to 'Harry Get's Engaged' you could read this without reading the first one but i wouldnt.

Guy at the end of the story will totally shank you.

-----

Remus gets a card for his Birthday, full of promice, and smut.

Ooh! Those are much fancier than amateur mice.

I know what they mean by "wizard" in this context (a bit more broadly applied than you might be familiar with: WorkFlows calls every task tool a "wizard"), but I never really saw this line in the splash screen before, since usually it goes by too quickly (long story short: library server woes today).

*sporfle* If only it were that easy, eh?

What if the Girl Who lived was turned into a kitten, by Ron who messed up his charm wording?

Ooer. That's an unfortunate nickname. Wonder how Ron came by it.

Severus remembers when he fell in love with Hermione and writes her a letter. Inspired by David Bowies song

(unfortunately for this joke, the writer turns out to actually be British. shhh.)

costume stuff

Besides an Aurora Sinistra costume, I've been vaguely considering a Patronus costume.

(While the idea of Rowena Ravenclaw is alluring, I find myself wondering where I would ever wear again the pieces I have in mind, since I don't play SCA and have no need for a cloak with a bronze eagle on it. OTOH I can see myself re-wearing the random starry crap that I have in mind for Aurora and the silvery animal bits that would be a Patronus, so I think expense and packing practicality is going to throw that one by the wayside. Never let it be said I am not a wet-blanket Ravenclaw Virgo.)

So hypothetically, what animal do you think you see me as?

My most likely choice is a fox, but that could make me Seamus Finnegan's Patronus, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I have a bat-shaped wing-frame (from a pair of nylon wings that disintegrated) that could be pressed into service. It would be fun to be a snake but I have no idea how I'd do that (keep in mind such a costume has to endure a cross-country flight).

I originally thought of doing a poll but I realized providing checkboxes was probably too restrictive.

I was kind of curious how the remote posts would appear when the poll was on DW. It's sillier than it sounds and has nothing (well, nothing you'd be able to understand without context) to do with the title I chose.

On http://lifehacker.com/5617897/dont-trust-college-rankings-when-choosing-a-school :

I accidentally bought the book, "How to Choose the Right School for Dummies" instead of "How to Choose the Right School, for Dummies".

I keeled over with laughter, shrieking "Eats, Shoots & Leaves!"*, when I read this comment. Upon recovery, I wondered aloud to my husband why I thought it was so funny, and concluded that it just happened to be the kind of thing that was right up my personal humor alley, possibly partly because this kind of correction of single-comma errors comes up fairly often in my line of work. (Also: I am a nerd.)

"O, ye mighty comma!" I declared, then blinked and paused.

"Wait, no. 'Ye' is plural."

Blinked again, then looked up meaningfully.

"I rest my case."

(O, thou mighty comma!)

* I like the title of the adapted picture book for grades 1-3 better: Eats, Shoots & Leaves: Why, Commas Really Do Make a Difference!

I might be... a little crazy. http://community.livejournal.com/hp_commonroom/2822.html?thread=886022#t886022 lol am I even speaking English any more? This is probably the closest thing to one of those GQMF/BAMF things I've ever done. It's a strange (but fun) mode of communication.

It makes me so happy that the very first in the giant stack of comments on that post (~1300) for "completely pimp out your favourite character [...] Pimp out your bias as much as you want, tell people how cool he or she is or how they can totally pwn someone's ass. This post is for you to become little Dobbys and fangirl/boy over your favourite character", was this: http://community.livejournal.com/hp_commonroom/2822.html?thread=528390#t528390

It's been a while since I made a summary post, so, here: submitted for your approval, even though there aren't ten of them (the usual threshold).

Note on this one, if you're not familiar with the fanfiction.net rating system: "T" is a "teen" rating and "M" is "mature".

Disclaimer: Do not take too seriously; I am not necessarily saying the fics in question are bad ones. Sometimes they are horrible, but more often they are just mediocre, and sometimes quite okay, but they all had something in their summaries that I found goofy, misused, or amusing in some other way.

It's after the Final Battle and beacuse of all the damage at Hotgwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, school was set back a year. So Hermione, harry, and Ron are in their 7th year of school. This year they don't have to wear uniforms.

No wonder it's Hotgwarts then! WOOOO! NAKED TIME!

-----

What if the Potters survived the attack & thought Tony was the Boy-Who-Lived?

Tony? Who's Tony? I don't know no Tony.

And they abandoned 15 month old Harry and 7 month old Justin?

Then, uh... they'd be bad parents?

(What Justin? Justin Finch-Fletchley? How'd they get a hold of him?)

Severus adopts Harry and Justin. T is 4 detailed descriptions!

Good call. Children can't handle details.

P.S. This story is childhood-Harry post-graduation.

My, my, Harry's quite the prodigy, isn't he?

-----

Hermione is given a clue.

"Oh, thank you, but I already have plenty of these. Here, Ron, you take it. And be sure to share it with Harry!"

The story this belongs to is too good to include in a summary post, but I couldn't resist this one:

Prolog Severus survives his wounds only to be swept up in Hell.

Oh my, your copy of the program is out of date. Don't you know? Current revisions of Severus are written in-- Python.
